Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is my child too young to ride?

We prefer that children be 8 years or older, but on occasion we can accommodate a single child between the ages of 5 and 7. All guests under the age of 18 must have their legal guardian sign a required risk-release form.

What is your weight limit?

We can accommodate 3 riders with a max weight of 275 lbs, 2 riders with the max weight of 225 lbs, and 3 riders with the max weight of 200 lbs.

How long is the trail ride?

Most rides are around 1 hour and 15 minutes of actual riding, with some additional transportation time required to go from the stables to the park. Occasionally, rides may take a bit longer if we only walk, and weekend rides may last up to 2 hours.

Is this a typical "nose to tail" ride on slow nags?

No! Our horses are not overused, so they are enthusiastic on every ride. As long as all guests participating in any particular ride are comfortable and in control of their mount, we will do some trotting in addition to the scenic walk.

What about the weather?

We will ride in every weather condition except miserable rains, lightning, ice, and high winds. Because the ride begins and ends in the shade, the forest is warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than the temperature outside of the woods.

What should I wear?

Boots or shoes with a slight heel are best. NO SHORTS! You may wear pants of Capri length or longer. Many people are most comfortable in jeans.

Can I wear my own helmet?

No bike helmets are allowed. If you own an SEI certified helmet that is designed for horseback riding and is in good condition, then you may wear your own helmet. If you do not own a helmet as described, then you are more than welcome to borrow one of ours. All riders will wear a helmet. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

Can I bring a camera?

Of course you may bring a camera, but it must fit in a pocket. For safety purposes no cameras (or other objects) may hang around your neck.

Can I bring my cell phone?

Yes. A ring tone will not scare our horses. You may only answer the phone or make a call if you can hold the reins and control your horse safely while making the call.

Can I smoke during the ride?

No. Sorry.

Will you take only one person on a trail ride?

No. Our rides require a minimum of two persons. That said, we are happy to place "lone" riders with other groups. So, if you're by yourself, give us a call and we'll let you know when other riders are going out so that you can tag along.

What if I'm running late?

If notified in advance by telephone, we can usually accommodate lateness for up to approximately 30 minutes. If you will be more than 30 minutes late, we'll be happy to reschedule. Remember other guests might be riding with you and/or we might have another trail ride going out after yours and one late guest effects the rest of the day.

Do you accept credit cards?

We apologize for any inconvenience, but at this time we only accept cash from new customers. We are currently trying to set up Paypal for the our online customers. Established riders may, with permission, pay with a check.

What other services do you offer?

In addition to guided trail rides and lessons, we also offer pony rides for children's parties as well as occasional boarding services. In addition, we currently have horses for lease. Please call for more information.
